oooh - this sounds great! I will deffo try and get hold of a copy as I to love crime fiction and Spooks with a passion (although I was sad that Adam died and I really liked early Spooks best). I very much enjoyed your description of the Pit of Embarrassment and Patricia Cornwell btw.

Thanks for the review. You and I have similar taste in crime novels -- though I wouldn't call them a "guilty" pleasure exactly! But I love the series Spooks, and I love a well-constructed crime novel, so this looks very enjoyable.

Update: just finished Natural History and it is quite good and quite interesting. I am still pondering about certain things in the book, but I am definitely going to buy Burial (after my trip to Namibia!).

What a coincidence: I am in the middle of Natural History by the same author. I am not quite sure yet what to think of it, but it is becoming more and more interesting. It seems different from Burial, in that there is no crime, but I do expect some intelligent twists and turns in the plot (Cross being the writer of my favourite tv-series, Spooks).
If I like Natural History I am now certainly going to read Burial
