I read this book in March myself, and was hooked. It does kind-of read like a criminal thriller, but, it's so much more than that. Think Lelic captures some of the key points incredibly well, and like you, I'll be keeping an eye out for his next book.

That's a good question Simon. I'm not sure what the dates are for Booker ellligability, but I know what you mean about it being a Booker outsider. To be honest, I've slightly given up trying to guess what the judges are looking for any given year, but I do think that Rupture is worthy of a look-in if nothing else.

I have to say that I am really keen to read this and do indeed have it on the TBR pile. I am wondering if he is elligible for the Booker as it seems to be one of those books that sort of has that rank outsider vibe about it? What do you reckon Kirsty?

Read this earlier in the month, and the plot was thoroughly gripping, despite it not being a whodunnit. Happy you enjoyed it:)

Claire, I'll be honest, I really didn't like We Need to Talk About Kevin. Actually, I didn't even finish it. Rupture is a world apart, I really think it's a stunning novel.

I'll definitely put this on the TBR list. It's certainly an interesting theme and while I honestly wasn't thrilled by We Need to Talk About Kevin, I'm intrigued at how a story where the shooter is a teacher may differ from a story where it was a student. I am also encouraged that both you and Jackie noted that you sympathized with the murderer - definitely the mark of a good writer at work.

I'm really pleased that you enjoyed this book - I couldn't put it down either. It is my favourite read of 2010 so far. I loved the original writing style and the way I was made to have sympathy with a murderer. I hope he writes some more books.
